Shortly after we finished the Azure Lake hike we met some friends at the trailhead to hike to the top of Cascade Falls. This is one of the more popular hikes in the Tahoe area and I don’t ever remember doing it. The runoff from the snow melt is still quite high so we had spectacular views of these falls on the short trail to the top. We were also rewarded by even more pretty views of Lake Tahoe.
We bravely crossed the first river to get to the second one where were spent a long time relaxing. This is also a cross-country route to Snow and Azure Lakes.
The return mileage for this hike is 1.56 miles so it offers some great scenic rewards if you are travelling with someone less inclined to hike far.
